Aharonovitch: Police ready for any occurrence, expect quiet

Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Friday that police forces are prepared for any occurrence but that he expects the day will pass quietly, ahead of planned demonstrations marking Land Day and a simultaneous event, the Global March to Jerusalem.

As of 12 p.m., there had been a few minor incidents but none of them were significant, Aharonovitch told Israel Radio.

Land Day protests take place every year, Aharonovitch reminded, while noting that there is a higher level of alert this year. He said protests and marches would be permitted to take place but protesters would not be allowed to break the law or create disturbances.
