Air traffic control apprentice nearly causes Eilat crash

An air traffic control apprentice at Eilat's airport nearly caused a plane crash on Wednesday when he led a landing aircraft into the flight path of another, Channel 2 reported on Tuesday night.

One of the planes was arriving from Ben Gurion International Airport, while the other was heading in the opposite direction.

The warning siren on the landing plane sounded, prompting the pilot to turn away and narrowly avoid the second aircraft, according to the report.
