Alfei Menashe council head Hisdai Eliezer dies of cancer

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) and Opposition head Tzipi LIvni (Kadima) mourned Monday the passing of Alfei Menashe Council head Eliezer Hisdai of cancer at age 57.
"He was one of Alfai Menashe's founder. It was his life's work," Netanyahu said. The results of his dedicated and genuine effort are evident, Netanyahu said. The prime minister said that Hisdai had been the child of holocaust survivors and himself endured a number of tragedies including the death of his daughter just before she was drafted into the army. Eliezer, he said, was a vocal opponent of the 2005 Gaza pullout who acted according to his heart and his conscience.
During his life Eliezer was a member of both the Likud and Kadima parties.
Livni said that he was a national leader and that his death was a great loss. He is survived by his wife and three children. His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Alfei Menashe.
