Annan asks EU, UK to stop giving aid to richer countries

Former UN chief Kofi Annan called on Britain and the European Union to stop providing financial aid to wealthy countries like China, Brazil and India, the Daily Mail reported on Friday.
Annan said not all countries receiving aid need it, and believes this aid would better serve "poor and weaker" parts of the world, according to the Daily Mail report.
"The emerging markets and the countries that are doing well should wean themselves off aid," the Daily Mail quoted Annan as saying.
The former UN head's comments back similar calls made by International Development Secretary Justine Greening last week.
