Israel Police arrest man for defrauding Russian speakers

The Israel Police arrested a man Wednesday suspected of defrauding Russian speakers, the Police Spokesperson's Unit reported Friday.

The suspect, a 31-year-old from Tel Aviv, allegedly pretended to be a public figure to gain the victims' trust before taking tens of thousands of shekels, according to a preliminary investigation.

The suspect's detention has been extended until Sunday, September 18.
