A 15-year-old boy was stabbed Thursday night in Rishon Lezion and and was pronounced dead on Friday afternoon.
A resident of the city in his 20s fled the scene and was later arrested.
Police immediately opened an investigation into the matter.
Due to the serious nature of the incident as well as the age of the victim, Israel Police Central District head Asst.-Ch. Avi Biton announced that the investigation would be conducted by the central unit of the Central District Police department.
The suspect is to be brought to court Friday, according to Hebrew media.
