Bar-On slams Steinitz on budget, deficit plan

The root of economic problem is embedded in the two-year budgets, former finance minister and current Kadima MK Ronnie Bar-On, said Tuesday.
Criticizing current Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, who engineered the two-year budgets as well as the unpopular deficit reduction plan passed on Monday, Bar-On said, "all the macroeconomic assumptions that were used two years ago are not applicable this year." That explains why government revenues were short NIS 18 billion, he said.
Bar-On added that different steps could have been taken in the deficit plan, and accused Steinitz of a shallow and superficial handling of the issue.
