The cabinet is set to approve the creation of a ministerial committee to promote alternative energy during its weekly meeting on Sunday. The committee would be comprised of the ministers of all the relevant ministries and its purpose would be to push forward the government decisions already passed which encourage alternative energy development. Several of the key decisions regarding research and development and achieving a certain percentage of electricity from alternative energy are not being implemented well enough, according to the text of the proposal. Moreover, recent technological changes necessitate a committee to keep on top of the issue. The proposal is being promoted by the prime minister, the environmental protection minister and the national infrastructures minister.
