Clash in Yemen's restive south leaves 6 dead

SAN'A, Yemen — Security officials in south Yemen say a raid on a military post by separatist gunmen left six people dead.
The officials say the attack took place Saturday in the Rabwa area east of the town of Habalein.
They say the six killed are four soldiers and two of the gunmen. A total of 11 others from both sides also were wounded.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
They said Sunday that the clashes between the separatists and the military continued sporadically throughout the night.
South Yemen was once a separate country and simmering tensions there have compounded Yemen's troubles as it struggles with a resurgent al-Qaida and a six-year uprising by Shiite rebels in the north.
