C'tee postpones vote on daylight saving time extension

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation on Sunday postponed by a month the vote on a bill that would make daylight saving time (DST) continue until the end of October every year.
Interior Minister Eli Yishai, who is in favor of the bill, said he is establishing a professional committee to probe the extension of DST.
The bill, sponsored by Nitzan Horowitz (Meretz) and co-sponsored by an additional 20 MKs from across the political spectrum, has been delayed for months in accordance with repeated requests by the government.
Horowitz on Sunday said he plans to transfer the proposed bill to a preliminary reading on Wednesday. He suggested the government support the move and said he was willing to wait for a period of one month until it is brought for a vote.
