Deputy defense minister: Deport Palestinian family of suspected Otniel killer

Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan, Israel’s deputy defense minister, called on the government Monday to deport the family of the 16-year-old Palestinian who was arrested in connection with the killing of Dafna Meir in the West Bank settlement of Otniel.

“A 16-year-old boy who turns into a cruel killer is a boy who was incited and taught that murdering Jews is the right thing to do,” Ben Dahan said. “His family needs to be deported from the country in order to prevent the next attack.”

Ben Dahan said he was “glad” that other ministers, like Housing Minister Yoav Galant, “finally realize that deportation is a most significant deterring step.”
