Doctors, state meet in last attempt to prevent resignations

Doctors and State officials met Monday morning in a last-ditch effort to prevent the mass resignations of doctors, set to take place on Tuesday.
The Health Ministry was weighing "unique" steps to deal with the severe shortage of manpower, Deputy Health Minister Ya’acov Litzmanin said Monday morning in an interview with Army Radio.
"We are debating whether to bring into the hospitals doctors who qualified overseas," Litzmanin told Army Radio.
702 medical residents and 32 specialists are expected to leave their jobs on Tuesday.
