Eitan: PM doesn't want to hurt settlers, but must obey law

Likud Minister Michael Eitan on Saturday answered Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's critics on the right after the prime minister reportedly agreed to evacuate the Ulpana outpost, saying "the prime minister and the government do not want to hurt the settlements or settlers, but they must obey High Court decisions and respect the rule of law."
Eitan supported Netanyahu's purported decision to oppose a bill to retroactively legalize Ulpana and other similar outposts, saying that such a law would damage Israel's standing in the world, and eventually be struck down by the High Court.
The Likud minister said that the prime minister was strengthening the settlement enterprise and respecting the rule of law by supporting the building of dozens more settlement homes in exchange for those being evacuated in Ulpana.
