Elyashiv’s condition slightly improved after tracheostomy

Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the 101-year-old leading rabbinical arbiter of the Lithuanian haredi community, underwent a tracheostomy to support his breathing, Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center reported on Wednesday.
His condition has slightly improved from critical but stable about 10 days ago when he was admitted for congestive heart failure to serious but stable.
