FADC head Hanegbi: Obama close to imposing crippling sanctions on Iran

FADC head Hanegbi Obama

US President Barack Obama is close to making a policy change which will include imposing crippling sanctions on Iran, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Tzahi Hanegbi (Kadima) said Thursday.
Speaking to Israel Radio, Hanegbi claimed that included in the measures would be a worldwide landing ban for Iranian planes, a prohibition on Iranian fuel exports and a full economic and trade boycott on the Islamic republic.
He said that until now, the world had "not acted in unison" concern the Iranian issue and that Teheran was not paying a "real price" for its defiance in the nuclear standoff.
Hanegbi added that the UN Security Council was expected to discuss further sanctions next month.
