Fatah denies PA intervention in Jordanian elections

A senior Fatah official denied on Wednesday that the Palestinian Authority is lending support to Jordan in the run up to the Jordanian elections, Palestinian News Agency Ma'an reported.
Ma'an quoted Nabil Sha'ath as denying any PA intervention in the upcoming Jordanian elections, scheduled for January 23, stressing that the authority does not interfere in Jordan's internal affairs following a move by Fatah secretary Jordan Najeeb al-Kaddoumi to support a certain candidate for the vote, causing consternation in Jordanian political circles.
He added that meetings between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordanian officials are not related to the elections, but just standard briefings considering the strong ties between the countries, Ma'an reported.
