Gov't reports success at distributing survivor benefits

The distribution of additional benefits to Holocaust survivors has been an overwhelming success with hundreds more people receiving extra funds, the ministries of Welfare and Social Services and Pensioners Affairs reported Tuesday.
According to information published by the government, thousands of survivors have already turned to the help line service to enquire about additional benefits that were made available by the government over the past two years. Hundreds of them have already had the money deposited in their bank accounts, said officials.
The ministries said International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which takes place Wednesday, was a good opportunity to remind survivors who had not come forward to contact the help line: *9444.
