Haifa clinic director beaten, threatened by patient’s son

Clalit Health Services' Even Sina community clinic in Haifa was closed on Sunday after its director was attacked by the son of a female patient with his fists.
The attacker also threw a liquid over the administrator and threatened to "burn and murder" him, the Israel Medical Association reported.
The son insisted that the director examine his mother even though he was not her personal physician.
The doctors decided to close down the clinic for 24 hours as a protest.
After the attacker fled the scene, the clinic called police, who were looking for him.
Dr. Shlomo Birkenfeld, the head of the Clalit doctors’ union, expressed his shock over the incident and said colleagues exposed to such violence suffer much emotional trauma from such cases.
Earlier this month, the Knesset passed a law raising to five years’ imprisonment (from the previous three years) the punishment for those convicted of physical violence against medical personnel.
