Haredi enlistment could fill IDF shortfall

The IDF is short thousands of soldiers and young haredi (ultra-Orthodox) men could help fill the gaps, said Gadi Agmon, who is in charge of IDF enlistment, Israel Radio reported Monday.
Agmon was speaking at a meeting of the Tal Law committee, headed by Kadima MK Yohanan Plesner.
According to Agmon, 7,500 18-year-old haredis are eligible for the draft this year. Last year, 1,282 haredim aged 18-26 actually enlisted.
