IAEA says not yet in talks on return to North Korea

VIENNA - The United Nations nuclear chief said on Monday he was not yet in contact with North Korea about the possible return of his inspectors to the reclusive Asian state, three years after they were expelled.
Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told a news conference "intensive consultations" were needed with Pyongyang on the issue and he did not rule out the possible dispatch of a high-level IAEA mission.
North Korea announced last week that it would suspend key elements of its nuclear weapons program and allow UN inspectors to return as part of a deal with the United States that could see the eventual resumption of nuclear disarmament talks that broke down in 2008.
