Independence not eligible for Knesset funding

Knesset Legal Advisor Eyal Yanon said that Defense Minister Ehud Barak's Independence faction is not eligible to receive party funding and cannot receive additional funding for its Knesset activities because it is not a represented party, Israel Radio reported.
He added that Independence cannot include itself under the funding qualifications of the Labor party, from which it broke off.
In the opinion he issued, Yanon said the Knesset can pay for the faction's parliamentary team for three months, until the faction becomes a party. If no party is established in that time, the Knesset will terminate the payments.
