NY Times: France's Kouchner reluctant to block Iran fuel shipments

New York Times Frances

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner expressed concern about sanctions on Iran including blocking shipments of refined fuel, in a New York Times interview published Tuesday. He said that the option, which is one of the sanctions under consideration by the West if Teheran refuses to negotiate over its nuclear program, was "not his personal favorite," as it might be "a bit dangerous." Kouchner surmised that such a blockade would harm "mainly poor people" in Iran. The New York Times interview took place in New York, where the United Nations General Assembly is being held this week.
