Ivory Coast: Gbagbo agrees to lift blockade on rival

Ivory Coast's Laurent Gbagbo on Tuesday agreed to hold further talks over a contested election and has promised to lift a blockade on the temporary headquarters of his rival Alassane Outtara, Reuters reported quoting the regional bloc ECOWAS.
"Mr. Laurent Gbagbo agreed to negotiate a peaceful end to the crisis without any preconditions. He also pledged to immediately lift the blockade around Hotel Du Golf, the temporary headquarters of Mr. Alassane Ouattara," ECOWAS stated in a communique cited by Reuters.
The communique added that Ouattara, who has been widely recognized as the winner of the Nov. 28 election, had "indicated his willingness to ensure a dignified exit" for Gbagbo, as long as he accepts that he had lost the vote.
