J'lem court extends remand of Silwan resident accused of murdering daughter over Facebook relations

A resident of Jerusalem's Silwan neighborhood was accused of murdering his 17-year-old daughter three weeks ago because he suspected that she was having romantic relations with men whom she had met on Facebook, Israeli media reported Tuesday.
According to the indictment, the father had invited his child for a meal to break the Ramadan fast on the roof of their home. While attending to a barbeque, the father reportedly sprayed his daughter with flammable material causing her to catch ablaze. The young woman atempted to escape and subsequently fell off the roof and died.
The Jerusalem District Court has extended the father's remand until the end of his trial.
