Jordan optimistic over US approval of uranium extraction

Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh was optimistic about reaching a negotiated solution with the US over Jordan's plans to develop its own uranium resources for a nuclear energy program, Reuters reported on Monday.
The US had told Jordan it was opposed to its development of its uranium reserves due to concerns over the possible diversion of material to any bomb-making efforts.
"I can see a solution. Discussions are ongoing," Judeh said in response to questions about US opposition to Jordanian plans.
Jordan has stated its intention to generate 30 percent of its electricity with nuclear power by 2030.
