Katsav refuses to give DNA sample to police

Former president Moshe Katsav on Wednesday refused to give the police a DNA sample as part of an initiative to collect DNA samples from all of prisoners, Israel Radio reported. Katsav is serving a prison term for sexual offenses. The police decided not to compel him to give a DNA sample at this time.
The laboratory unit for criminal identification is collecting samples from all prisoners in order to establish a DNA database for the police to help identify persons with criminal records in the future.
Katsav was the only prisoner who refused to give a blood sample. Katsav's attorney, Zion Amir, refused to respond to the report.
