King Abdullah of Jordan establishes constitutional court

King Abdullah of Jordan issued a royal decree on Saturday to appoint the president and members of the newly established Constitutional Court as part of his reform initiatives, The Jordan Times reported.
In a letter addressed to the court members, headed by former minister and legal expert Taher Hikmat, King Abdullah called the establishment of the court a “pioneering, national achievement.”
Hekmat and eight other members of the new court were sworn in before the king on Saturday, the Times reported.
The setting up of the court comes after the king dissolved parliament and called early elections on Thursday.
