Knesset speaker blesses incoming Egyptian counterpart

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin wrote a letter on Sunday welcoming the election of his new Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Saad El-Katani of the Muslim Brotherhood. Rivlin referred to the “rich spiritual and cultural heritage” of the Jewish and Egyptian nations, both of which are “ancient peoples.”
The Knesset speaker also wrote that he, along with the people of Israel, hope Egypt is on its way to a better future, as well as “peace and neighborly relations” between their countries.
