Kurds clash with Turkish police

Kurds clashed with Turkish police near the Iraqi border Wednesday on the 28th anniversary of the rebels' armed struggle.
Protesters pelted police with firecrackers and petrol bombs. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons.
August 15th 1984 is considered the start of the struggle of the now outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in their campaign for autonomy in southeastern Turkey.
