Lapid: I'll praise gov't if it compels IDF, nat'l service

Yesh Atid party chairman Yair Lapid on Wednesday said that if the newly formed unity government passes an alternative to the Tal Law that compels every 18-year-old Israeli to serve either in the IDF or civilian national service, he would be the first to praise it. Unfortunately, past experience teaches us that they won't do that, Lapid told students at the Ariel University Center of Samaria.
Lapid called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to conduct discussions on replacing the Tal Law transparently. He continued, there cannot be another situation where "we don't know what deal was made with whom behind the scenes."
