Lebanon freezes UNHCR residency applications

BEIRUT - Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil has directed authorities to freeze all residency applications submitted by the United Nations' refugee agency UNHCR, his office said in an emailed statement on Friday.
Bassil accused the agency of hindering the return of Syrian refugees to their country by "spreading fear through asking certain questions that frighten them," and will consider further actions that could be used against it.
