Liberman: Israel needs broader base of population in IDF

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Monday morning that Israel needs to legislate new laws in order to make sure that a broader base of Israel's population gets drafted into the IDF.

The Tal Law, which provided the legal framework for haredi (ultra-Orthodox) men to indefinitely defer military service, was ruled illegal by the High Court of Justice in February.

The government is attempting to find a compromise for the law.
