'Libya asks UNSC to discuss findings of Goldstone report'

Libya asks UNSC to disc

Libya on Tuesday asked the United Nations Security Council to meet over the latest UN Human Rights Council's report, which stated that Israel committed war crimes during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza last January. According to Israel Radio, a spokesperson for the Vietnamese UN mission - which currently holds the UNSC presidency - confirmed that the request had been made. The report, which was written by a UN investigative team headed by South African Judge Richard Goldstone, has been hotly debated since its publication last week for what some critics claim is an anti-Israel bias. While Palestinians have commended the findings, a motion to discuss the report last Friday was withdrawn at the last moment by the Palestinian Authority mission to the UN.
