Libya's top oil official says output cut sharply

LONDON - Libya's top oil official Shokri Ghanem said on Thursday he remained in Tripoli and the country was continuing to produce some oil, although output was much reduced.
The comments from Ghanem, the chairman of Libya's National Oil Corporation, are his first to Reuters since March 18, shortly before the start of Western-led military operations to force Muammar Gaddafi from power.
"The oil production went down very drastically but still there is some production," Ghanem told Reuters. "I am in Tripoli and I am in my office."
