Lieberman to visit Romania on Wednesday

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman plans to embark on a three-day official visit to Romania on Wednesday.
The Foreign Ministry said that Lieberman will meet in Bucharest with Romanian President Traian Băsescu, Prime Minister Emil Boc, Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi and other senior Romanian officials.
Lieberman will also visit the Jewish Community Center, the Great Synagogue of Bucharest and Jewish schools in the Romanian capital, and meet with the leaders of the local Jewish community. He plans to visit the memorial commemorating the Holocaust of Romanian Jewry, as well.
"A strong bond exists between Israel and Romania,” Lieberman stated. “Israel remembers that Romania was the only Eastern Bloc country that did not sever diplomatic ties since they were originally established in 1948, and appreciates Romanian support for Israel's efforts to upgrade its relationship with the European Union. The two countries cooperate closely on security and economic issues, and it is Israel's aim to continue to expand this cooperation for the benefit of both countries."
Lieberman is expected to return to Israel on Friday 16 April.
