Live State of the Union 2015: "Turning the page" from terror and fear

WASHINGTON -- Congress and the president of the United States will raise pens in solidarity with the people of France on Tuesday night, as Obama delivers his State of the Union to a joint session for the sixth time. President Obama will request time for his diplomatic effort with Iran over its nuclear program to succeed, and will seek a specialized authorization for the use of force against Islamic State worldwide.
"I believe in a smarter kind of American leadership," Obama will say, according to the White House. "We lead best when we combine military power with strong diplomacy; when we leverage our power with coalition building; when we don’t let our fears blind us to the opportunities that this new century presents.
"That’s exactly what we’re doing right now," he continues, "and around the globe, it is making a difference."
