Man faces hard time for alleged fake Viagra distribution scheme

A man was arrested Monday night for allegedly trying to distribute hundreds of fake Viagra pills, the National Fraud Squad stated on Tuesday.
The man, a resident of Holon in his 50s named Shlomo Schechter, was arrested Monday night while carrying 50 of the fake erectile dysfunction pills on his person. A further search of his car turned up another 550 of the pills in his trunk.
On Tuesday he was taken to the Rishon Letzion Magistrate Court where his remand was extended until Thursday. An alleged accomplice was also brought into custody on Tuesday, and he will appear before a judge on Wednesday morning.
Police suspect Schechter was attempting to distribute the fake pills, which are readily available at kiosks in Israel.
He could potentially do hard time for a series of charges, including aggravated fraud and charges of violating pharmaceutical regulations among others.
