Man killed in Hod Hasharon car bomb

Police are investigating the possibility of an underworld hit in the Sharon region, after a car bomb rocked Hod Hasharon around 11pm Thursday night, leaving one man dead at the scene.

Sharon district police said that the victim was driving on Habanim street in Hod Hasharon when his car exploded and then burst into flames. Within minutes, little more than a smoldering heap of wreckage was left of the vehicle.

Police have not released the name of the victim nor confirmed whether or not the incident in question involved organized crime figures. Car bombs have been a popular weapon for Israeli mobsters looking to settle scores with rivals, and there are a number of well-known Israeli crime figures who live in the Sharon region, including in Hod Hasharon.
