Migrants stream into Greece despite tightening border controls

Hundreds of migrants arrived on Monday at Greece's main port unaware they could not continue their journey north, as thousands more remained stranded at Greece's border with Macedonia border after the neighboring country imposed further controls over the flow of people.
Concern is stirring that thousands of migrants using Greece as a launchpad to head into more prosperous western Europe could end up stranded in the impoverished state as more and more countries lying to its north impose controls to stem the flow of thousands fleeing war in the Middle East and beyond.
The 1280 passengers of the passenger ferry 'Blue Star Patmos', many of them women and children, were escorted by the Greek coast guard from the ship directly to a passenger terminal and told that no northbound buses were available for the time being.
