Nat'l Union MKs slam gov't for negotiating with Hamas

National Union MKs said that holding negotiations with Hamas in efforts to free captive soldier Gilad Schalit will not be successful, slammed efforts to pressure the government to complete a deal and described Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's readiness to negotiate with Hamas as weakness, at a press conference on Monday.
MK Yaakov Katz criticized as "unacceptable," the behavior of former security chiefs who have come out in recent days in support of a prisoner exchange deal to free Schalit. The National Union, Katz said, represents a "large population in Israel that's upset Israel is being harmed by a group that wants to weaken Israel before its enemies far and near," adding that the country is "in the middle of a war for our existence."
