Obama seeks $14 billion to boost U.S. cyber-security defenses

WASHINGTON- President Barack Obama's budget proposal for the 2016 fiscal year seeks $14 billion for cyber-security efforts across the US government to better protect federal and private networks from hacking threats.

The budget seeks an increase of about $1.5 billion from this year's $12.5 billion devoted to cyber-security spending.

Federal cyber-security funding has steadily increased in recent years, from $10.3 billion in 2013, reflecting the intensity of threats US companies and government agencies are facing from cyber intruders, both domestic and foreign.
