PM calls Beinisch to express support after shoe-hurling

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, currentlyvisiting in ,telephoned Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch on Wednesday to express hissupport in her after a man threw his shoes at the judge.

Beinisch was lightly injured in the incident. A 52-year-old

resident, who threw his shoes at her, was detained by the court’ssecurity guards and was being questioned by police.

“I’m mortified,” Netanyahu told Beinisch.

“Attacks must not be carried out against thecourt, and hurting the Supreme Court president is unthinkable. I support you and theentire legal system,” the prime minister said.
