"The Israeli public will not be willing to take risks for peace if stripped of its right to self-defense," said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in a meeting with Asian ambassadors Wednesday, Army Radio reported. Netanyahu referred to the Goldstone report, written by the UN fact-finding mission which investigated IDF Operation Cast Lead, stating that "the peace process would be brought to a halt" if the report were submitted to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. "A democratic state's right to defend its population has been crushed by a UN body," said the prime minister of the report. Netanyahu met with high-ranking ministers to discuss the possibility of a government-led investigation into Operation Cast Lead.
