Policeman convicted of beating a handcuffed prisoner

The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court convicted Avi Cohen, a Yiftah region police patrolman of beating Nasser Amar, while he was handcuffed after being arrested for reckless driving in July 2009.
The court convicted Cohen based on independent witness testimony, despite the fact that Amar didn’t lodge a complaint into the matter.
Amar had crashed his vehicle into a metal structure after being chased by the police. Cohen denied that he had beaten the prisoner.
