'Prison service fighters at risk of getting AIDS, TB'

Fighters of the Nahshon unit of the Prison Service are at risk of contracting AIDS, tuberculosis and hepatitis, a report by the Public Security Ministry ombudsman revealed, Army Radio reported Tuesday.
According to the report, the fighters continue to escort detainees - some of who are infected with diseases - without proper immunization.
The report also found deficiencies in prisons including a shortage of handcuffs and tear gas and in the standards of the fighters unit.
The Prison Service said in response that the deficiencies have been fixed and the majority of fighters have been vaccinated against diseases.
