Protests erupt across Syria, firing in Deir al-Zor

ANTALYA - Syrian forces fired live ammunition on Friday to disperse protesters in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor, residents said, as demonstrations erupted across Syria in defiance of a military crackdown.
Activists and residents said thousands of people marched in the northwestern province of Idlib, the Kurdish northeast, several Damascus suburbs, the central city of Homs and in Hama to the north, the towns of Madaya and Zabadani west of Damascus and near to the border with Lebanon, and in the southern Hauran Plain, where several towns and villages are surrounded by tanks.
