Putin meets Abbas in Moscow

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday  in Moscow to discuss ways of relaunching peace efforts and plans to hold an international peace conference on settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"And of course Mr President we will support your efforts aimed at making more effective steps needed in order to reach constructive dialogue," said Putin opening talks with Abbas in the Kremlin.
Abbas's visit to Moscow comes soon after the Palestinian President offered to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to rekindle peace efforts and said he was working to stop Palestinian knife attacks and other street violence against Israel. In Moscow Abbas spoke of the need to hold and international conference on the settlement of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
