Qatar's emir set to visit Ramallah this month

Qatari Emir Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani was set to make his first-ever trip Ramallah later this month, AFP, citing Palestinian officials, reported Sunday.

“The visit of the emir of Qatar has been confirmed,” AFP quoted Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabeel Abu Rudaina as saying. “The agreement on the visit came during a meeting with [Palestinian Authority] president [Mahmoud] Abbas in Doha last week,” he added.

Abu Rudaina said the trip was expected to take place before the end of December.

Qatar's emir in October became the first head of state to visit the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, in a high-profile visit which saw him pledge $400 million to the Palestinian coastal enclave.
