Report: Hamas contacting Palestinian groups to end violence

Hamas insisted Sunday that it was in contact with various Palestinian factions to decide how to best end the current escalation of violence with Israel, Hamas-affiliate Al Resalah reported.

According to Hamas spokesperson Masheer Al-Masry, this escalation is "different" than those in the past, which have generally ended with an informal ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Egypt.

In this instance, Hamas is cooperating with Palestinian "groups to determine an approach" for dealing with Israel, presumably referring to groups like Islamic Jihad and the Palestinian Resistance Committees, which are largely carrying out rocket attacks.

Hamas said it holds Israel solely responsible for the escalation in violence, according to Masry, adding that it was the Palestinian people have a right to resistance.
