Report: Lebanon blocks 'terrorist' statement at UN

Lebanon blocked a UN Security Council statement which would have labeled deadly attacks near Eilat on Thursday as terrorism, AFP reported Friday.
While the UN regularly uses the phrase "terrorist attack" to describe such incidents worldwide, Lebeanon thwarted the statement because it said one of the buses that was attacked was carrying Israeli soldiers.
The move prompted US criticism. US deputy ambassador Rosemary DiCarlo said the language was "standard," and that the council has regularly adopted the term.
Unanimity is a requisite for a council statement.
